Aim
«Justice – Justiz – Giustizia» provides
information from a Swiss perspective on all aspects of judicial practice, including
that which relates to crime investigation authorities in Switzerland. It is
a scientific legal publication which aims to inform its readers about issues
related to constitutional law, judicial procedure and organization. The publication
also acts as a discussion forum for professionals working in a legal environment
and for people interested in the judiciary. «Justice» analyses
the impact of justice, its role, what we can expect from it, how others view
justice, what it is concerned with and the conditions that are necessary for
it to fulfil its role. The publication aims to show the reader the process
through which judgements are drafted, the influences that are brought to bear
on this process, its qualities and the threats that are posed to the achievement
of justice.. This periodical also reports on people working in the judiciary. «Justice – Justiz – Giustizia» should
be a mouthpiece and a communication medium for judicial associations and their
members. «Justice – Justiz – Giustizia» is the official
publication of the Swiss Association of Judicial Magistrates.
Readership
«Justice – Justiz – Giustizia» addresses itself primarily to members of the judiciary (judges, legal clerks) – including lay judges and justices of the peace, to members of criminal investigation authorities (state attorneys, investigation officials) as well as members of legislative and executive authorities (Federation and Cantons) and at other legal professionals (professors, teaching assistants, students). The publication should also appeal to other persons who are interested in justice. Geographically «Justice – Justiz – Giustizia» is primarily focused on Switzerland (German, French and Italian-speaking areas of Switzerland). International articles and information are also provided, especially from judicial associations in the surrounding countries, the international association of judges (IAJ/UIM) and from other international magistrates associations.
Topics
«Justice – Justiz – Giustizia» covers
all questions related to the judiciary and the criminal investigation
authorities. It is primarily focused on constitutional law (the State’s
organization of the judicial system as defined in formal and material constitutional
law) as well as the rules governing judicial organization. Specific
themes treated include; the independence of the judiciary, judicial ethics,
The administration of justice (organization and authority of the courts as
well as regulations concerning the organizational structure of the jurisdiction),
the election of judges (selection, election procedure, re-election), disciplinary
processes, the drafting of judicial decisions (language, logic), judicial consultations
(the judiciary and the general public, the judiciary and the media), conduct
of hearings as well as trial management and procedural law so far as the judicial
system is affected by it. Furthermore «Justice – Justiz – Giustizia» will
contain reports, information, etc. from different magistrates associations.
Types of articles presented
«Justice – Justiz – Giustizia» contains
scientific essays, discussion articles from members of the judiciary
and external commentators, personal profiles of members of the judiciary,
interviews, editorial comments and reports from magistrates associations. Judgements
of the Federal court, Cantonal courts and foreign courts (including
the ECJ and the ECHR) will be published, insofar as these concern the role
of the judiciary.
Language
«Justice – Justiz – Giustizia» will
primarily contain articles in German and French. Articles in Italian and English
will
also be published.
Periodicity of publication
«Justice – Justiz – Giustizia» will
be published four times per year. It is a web-based publication. All subscribers
will receive an e-mail four times per year in which the current edition is
summarised. Subscribers will have access via e-mail and via the website to
the full texts of articles as well as to the archives of articles contained
in previous issues. Access to the full texts is password-protected and users
must pay for access. All subscriptions are for a period of one year.
